Each of us has one master spirit guide through life. It surprises me that so few people are eager to make the most of what is such an amazing personal resource! To go through your whole life never coming to closely know your spirit guide is like ignoring the fact that you have two hands and not one, simply because your non-primary hand is clumsier and your spirit guide is invisible. I am going to refer to your spirit guide as “him,” but you might well have a female guide. In fact, just anecdotally, our guides are often of the opposite gender. Your primary spirit guide is likely to be someone who has lately achieved the upper fifth level of spiritual development, and has therefore reached the point where he no longer needs to incarnate, but he can continue to grow spiritually by guiding someone on earth. Please read our beautiful frame-verse above. Much of what God does for you is lovingly done by your spirit guide, who is God’s hard-working minion under God’s close guidance. Your spirit guide is God’s hand in your life.
My dear beloved Thomas is as much a part of your life as I am. All the praise that you ever have given to me in fact belongs to him! Sometimes I can see Thomas at night, and the picture that heads this post is close to what my Thomas actually looks like. And so will all of us choose to look young, when we are again back in our eternal home. That semi-impatient look on his face is right, too, but he actually is a very nice guy. He simply is unwilling to suffer fools.
You wouldn’t have these articles each week if it were not for Thomas. I will say to him in my mind, “We need an article again,” and he will right away give me a topic and let me struggle with it for a couple of days; and then eventually he gives up and he helps me write it. Thomas always looks solemn. If I ever can get a smile from him, then that feels like a triumph! All of us meet with our guides at night while our bodies sleep. My formal meetings with Thomas mostly take place in a handsome cherry-paneled, windowless conference room in the astral plane, and usually Thomas won’t allow me to remember those meetings. Of late, we have been meeting with Jesus fairly often to talk about His planned website. And also, I suppose, to help me get over my being so in awe of the Lord.
This post is emphatically not Thomas’s idea. But I lost Monday and Tuesday of this past week because friends and clients kept calling me with birthday wishes, and also because of a small client crisis. Then it turned out that I was going to lose Wednesday and Thursday mornings to a luncheon and to a radio interview, so our usual leisurely blog-writing dance – which, frankly, I have come to enjoy – simply was not going to happen this week. We needed a topic that I could write about without much help from Thomas, and the only such topic that I could think of was… Thomas. It seemed to be past time, anyway. The only post that I could find that I had written primarily about him was written back when I was still crushing on his Thomas Jefferson lifetime, and he was irritated by my Jefferson obsession. He kept muttering, “Kid, get over it – you don’t know the half of it.”
And we know now that he was right about that! I will try not to make this all about Jesus, but they have become a close pair in my mind. The Thomas who was aligned with Jefferson, and the Jesus who was aligned with Christianity, have been replaced in my mind since the 6th of April by what irreverently, but with enough love to fill to bursting my whole heart, I have come to refer to as “The Boys.” I have actually met with my Thomas and Thomas Jefferson at the same time so I have seen that they are two different people. And the Jesus of today with olive skin, hazel eyes and dark curly hair, and often with a lighthearted smile, looks nothing at all like church-Jesus. He doesn’t talk or act like church-Jesus, either.
Now you are likely wondering whether I might have gone off the reservation. Has Thomas approved what I have written this week? What he has said, and I quote, is, “You control the hands.” Well, true. But if there were anything in this post that he disapproved of, he has ways by which he could emphatically say that.
I think that most of our spirit guides would prefer to work internally. But still, it is not hard to learn to recognize your guide’s separate voice. And once you can do that, you have a new best friend for life. My Thomas was entirely internal until he had to come out to me through a medium in early 2015 in order to persuade me to channel Liberating Jesus. He had to tell me then who he had been in his previous earth-lifetime as a strong-arm tactic, and for another couple of years he was willing to communicate with me through a medium, but I never got over that Jefferson connection. I am such a big Thomas Jefferson fan! I mean, the Declaration of Independence, for heaven’s sake? And in order to begin to prepare me to channel Liberating Jesus, Thomas had in 1990 channeled My Thomas, which is the finest piece of writing that I ever am going to do in my life. I really was having trouble getting past that Jefferson connection. So then one day Thomas abruptly stopped communicating through mediums altogether, and he insisted that I learn to communicate with him without any medium between us at all.
Thomas would have much preferred to go back to meeting with me only at night, and with me never remembering those meetings except subliminally. But the cat was thoroughly out of the bag. He knew I wasn’t going to settle for anything less than direct communication. In fact, I bluntly told him so. Many people have been asking me how someone who isn’t a medium can develop the ability to recognize the voice of their own master guide, and it really is simple. In no special order, just:
Not only are you two people in one body, but in our case it is clear that Thomas is much the brighter, and also the stronger and the more powerful individual. The fact that together we present to the world as an old woman is a fake-out. Call it a bit of camouflage. This body contains an old woman and a very bright young man. Never judge a book by its cover.
I should add, too, that talking with your spirit guide isn’t like chatting with someone by phone. Thomas and I generally communicate in boluses of thought, with whole ideas sent rapidly to one another, which is the way that people communicate in the astral. And it is vastly more efficient than using words! Occasionally, though, Thomas will use words, and when he does, it is generally just one or a few distinct words. His voice sounds much older than he looks. For example, although I stopped watching television twenty-odd years ago, if I occasionally watch a longish computer video that he considers to be beneath our intelligence, I might unexpectedly hear a deep and venerable male voice say, “Stupid!”
And Jesus, when I have heard Him speak, doesn’t sound really older than He looks, but He has a mild, distinctive accent. He is still wrapping up His seventeen-hundred-year period of welcoming and healing the victims of Roman Christianity. So now He is starting to think about perhaps having a website that He can use to resurrect His Way, and He is thinking about perhaps even basing it on Liberating Jesus. Or so He said when He invited me to visit Him on April 6th. But, where did He get those ideas? It is first now that I am wondering. Since Jesus has lived without time and disconnected from the earth for the past two thousand years, I have been wondering where any of that might have come from. When I first asked Thomas, he shrugged. (And yes, I can tell when he shrugs.) But I persisted.
Together, Thomas and I have thought through the fact that Jesus knows about Liberating Jesus, of course, having channeled the book through me. And the idea for a new, simpler book first occurred to Him in the early nineteen-eighties of earth-time, when He seems to have first learned that A Course in Miracles is too challenging for most people to get their minds around. And here it becomes somewhat fascinating! Thomas tells me that they used My Thomas, which is a biography of Thomas Jefferson’s ten-year marriage that Thomas channeled through me in 1990 so they could make sure that I would be able to channel Jesus’s simplified version of The Course if He should later decide to channel a simplified version of The Course. And then for the next fifteen years, Thomas led me to do exhaustive additional research so Jesus would have in my mind a whole attic full of information to rummage through and use when He took over my mind and hands in 2015 to write Liberating Jesus. A plan which I then attempted to foil, when I tried to refuse to accept that honor.
So, is that where Jesus learned about websites? He found the concept in my mind? Thomas says that Jesus has just been dropping in with him on earth more lately, since he has a little more free time now, so He has been coming to know me a bit as well. He made the afterlife evidence that He found in my mind an Appendix to Liberating Jesus. And now here we are, doing a whole website on that subject. I don’t think that I had even opened Liberating Jesus in the past five years, but we have lately changed publishers, and I was surprised when I reviewed its new galleys to see how much Liberating Jesus follows the format of my other books. It had been Craig’s and my original thought to make discussing The Way of Jesus a part of seekreality.com, but then it seemed to us that it would be better if we took the time to give it a separate, linked website, since so many lapsed Christians of late are seeking a new spiritual home that is based in the teachings of Jesus. Thomas tells me that Jesus has been thinking about just taking over our idea Himself, and making our linked website His own.
There are downsides to being the most popular Man on earth. Every conceivable name for a website that includes the name of Jesus has already been taken. But Craig has managed to buy teachingsbyJesus.com, and we plan to go with that. We still don’t know what Jesus wants to do with His new website, and nor does Thomas really know, and Jesus has never even used a computer, so all of us will be feeling our way. All that I can think to do is to turn the teachings of Jesus into short educational videos, so I guess we will be starting with that.
But I do have one problem. Writing this post has made me think about the fact that very soon now my relationship with my beloved Thomas is going to end. My beautiful master spirit guide serves the Master, and only the Master. He has delayed his own ascension to the level of the Godhead for thousands of earth-years in order to serve Jesus. He became my spirit guide as another way to serve Jesus, just so once we had completed my spiritual earth-lessons I could be Jesus’s avatar on earth. And now once my Thomas has seen me through my life-review after I die, his service to me will honorably end. But I have fallen completely in love with my wonderful, beautiful Thomas! I cannot bear to lose him forever among a hundred billion other people in the endless astral. Take a good look at that impatient face that clearly does not suffer fools. What do you think he would say to my telling him how much I have completely fallen in love with him?
To my surprise, what he actually said was, “I know. That is what is supposed to happen.” He told me that once I am back in my greater mind, I will be male again, he and I will be close friends again, I will remember many very important things, and we will have a lot to laugh about. But meanwhile, he said I should finish this blog post.

I am sitting in a little lobby at a hotel in northern Wisconsin as I read. My sister is home from Africa for a visit and we are hooking up at my brother’s farm for a picnic. I awoke at my usual 4 and thought, “Roberta!” Lol. I had to find a quiet space since hubby is still asleep.
It is delightful your post is about Spirit Guides. I am very familiar with the concept and practice. I was pondering my dream when I first woke since it seemed to make no sense when I thought, “Spirit Guides!” And upon that thought, I got the “message” of the dream, which was a hilarious representation of how I make things more complicated than they need to be! I’m still laughing at myself in the dream.
In reading your post, which is understandably focused on Thomas and Jesus, I got a sense or idea that there is a very very large group of Guides excited and just waiting for it all to fall into place as they also have a “part” through the many who will awaken that much more upon immersing themselves in The Way, including myself. It is a ripple effect, as I see it, and not for entertainment of “having a spirit guide” as was the case back in the 80’s and 90’s when I came upon the concept, but a real invitation to work together toward something so great we cannot even imagine it.
So, keep that torch lit, and know you are doing a great job!

At precisely that same time I was also awake – I was awake for most of the night – and I was still reading and editing this post, and wondering why for heaven’s sake since I do indeed “control the hands” and I’m supposedly no dummy, am I not able to write almost as good a post without him as I can write with him? He was kind of chuckling, and telling me that it was good enough and I should get some sleep and he was going to get some sleep, which of course was a joke because our guides don’t sleep. Dear Roberta,You mentioned that we normally are two in one body, ourselves and the input of our spirit guide. My research has led me to conclude that even without a spirit guide as input,we normally function with two sources of motivation: the body itself has a form of consciousness (with needs and esires Freud described as the Id and Ego), and the attached soul (effectively, the Super Ego) is an eternal consciounsness ( https://scigod.com/index.php/sgj/article/view/780 ). Incidently, the attached soul is aware of past lives, and when there is a change from one life to the next in sex, that may cause confusion about sex identity for children up to around age 6 (Carol Bowman’s research on children’s past lives found approximately 40% remember the other side, but that memory gradually fades till it is gone by puberty). Some of the apparitions or ghosts that folks see may alsobe the residual consciousness from the body when its flesh dies

Hello my dear Jack! I am exhibit A as a male born in a female body. I discovered that my body was female when I was barely a year old, and that was such a shock that I recall the moment to this day. I didn’t accept being female happily until I hit puberty, and then of course when Peter Wright regressed me I learned that all 17 of my lifetimes lived with Thomas had been male. So it doesn’t surprise me when he tells me that he looks forward to having me back as his male friend again!
And yes, I think you will enjoy coming to know your spirit guide! That process of becoming acquainted is an adventure, all by itself.

I penned an article yesterday about this topic, confusion of children about their sex identity over their change from the last lifetime, to a journal because of the sudden ramping of brutal medical sex changing to children. The very focus on this issue instigates a problem that otherwise dissapears naturally for the great majority. If the confusion persists into puberty, past life regression therapy offers a remedy less brutal than drugs and irreversible surgery.
My guide remains hidden :).
My dear Jack, if someone had told me even as late as the age of
fifteen that, sure, I could be a man, nature just had screwed up, I would have jumped at the chance of taking puberty blockers! And I would have destroyed my own life. Instead, I have had a wonderful life as a woman, with no regrets at all. And now, if I had nothing better to do, knowing what I know, I would spend the rest of my life putting doctors in prison for what they are doing to children. But first, of course, they should be horsewhipped.
Yes, this is a new tragedy unfolding from the pols who are feasting on identity politics regardless of terrible harm to children and society.

Wow, my dear Erica, you have made me smile! I can understand that impulse of being afraid to meet your master guide, because it’s kind of like an arranged marriage, isn’t it? What if you don’t like each other? But it’s exciting, too. Your guide is a highly developed individual spiritually who has devoted your whole life to advancing your own spiritual development. That is pretty exciting! So, just dip a toe and take it gradually. See where it takes you!
I’m glad you talked about spirit guides this week. Most of us go through our lives thinking that we are alone and I am no exception, but it’s a good reminder for all of us that we never walk solo, that guidance is simply there for the asking. I would like to know more about how you and Thomas developed your communication skills with one another.
Actually, the key is wanting to do it. And being open – always listening. You and your guide are probably close in spiritual development, so it is crucial that he move out of your body and behind your dominant shoulder. Now I can recognize Thomas’s distinctive male voice because I’m used to it, and I’m always listening for it in that spot – but in the beginning it wasn’t easy.
When there is a big difference in spiritual development, though, it is another matter! Just for example, Thomas wanted to prove to me that I can hear Jesus’s voice in my mind easily, so they did an experiment, and wow, anybody could hear His voice. Just speaking softly. I heard every word.
This is something I really struggle with. I don’t seem to able to make contact with my guide at all. I’ve tried so many recommended meditations and methods but zip, and things I’ve thought I was being guided to do in the past have turned out to be massive mistakes.
I’ve reached the point in my life where I just want to be of service wherever I am called to be but I’m beginning to feel as if I’m not actually wanted.
Lisa: This is very disturbing to me, especially because you put so much effort into it. You are not the only one who has mentioned this problem, so I have to wonder what is actually going on here.
My dear Lola, it’s a still, small voice and not a booming one. And my Thomas and I have been friends for thousands of years, it turns out, while some guides and their charges have paired up for this lifetime. Every situation is different. Let’s see if Peter Wright can help.

Oh my dear Lisa, of course you are wanted! But sometimes we simply try too hard. Or we don’t try hard enough – we are impatient. And your guide’s voice is not big and booming! It’s tiny. Even when Thomas wanted me to hear Jesus’s voice in my mind, it was perfectly clear but it was small!
First, try those steps listed above. Then, second, pay close attention to what is being said behind your dominant shoulder. All the time. Every minute. This takes work, and it takes patience! You begin to feel his presense there. Talk to him, even if you don’t feel it yet, or just barely. Say “Thank you for guiding me.” “Nice weather today.” Whatever! Or you might consider contacting Peter Wright to help you get started. In fact, I think we’ll have him back on Seek Reality to talk about spirit guides again – it’s time!

Spirit Guides
Just about all of the afterlife research, NDE returners and evidential mediums talk about spirit guides. It’s generally accepted that we all have at least one who is with us for life and who can be called upon to help us.
Now this is something I have struggled with and as recently as this Sunday I made a comment in a spiritual blog that I read that I don’t seem to be able to connect with mine and that some of my life choices don’t seem to have been very guided (this is Ego’s take on things but more about that in a future post).
We are also told that we can ask our guide what their name is and even sceptical members of my family have been surprised by the answers they got to that.
Some of you may remember that on my personal Facebook. Page I also commented about trying to ask my guide what their name was and getting the reply “Dorothy” with an mage of a middle aged tweedy type of woman. I joked at the time that other people get native Americans or ancient Chinese priests and that this probably explained a lot about my life.
On Tuesday night I listened to a podcast about Chico Xavier – hardly anyone here has heard of him but he was amazing-if you’re interested in these things look him up – and then went to sleep listening to an audio book called In The World But Not Of It which is all about dealing with that pesky little ego.
I then had a very vivid and lucid dream about being in a community where everyone shared their resources and those in need of help were given it. I woke up able to remember every detail and with a name clear in my consciousness- Dorothy Day. I had a feeling I’d heard it before so I Googled it. She was born in America in 1897 and spent much of her life working to follow the teachings of Jesus and alleviate poverty. She was also the founder and editor of The Catholic Worker which I found interesting given that I have rejected almost all of the Catholic dogma in order to follow the teachings that Jeshua Ben Joseph gave us before Rome got their hands on it. However I read on a little bit further down there it was, my picture of a tweedy middle aged woman.😮
Now that contact has been made, I have a feeling things might be about to get interesting.
Only one thing still puzzles me however. Dorothy died in 1980 and I was born in 1965. I know that time is purely a construct of this side of life but is this possible?
I am going to see about getting in touch with Peter Wright as well.

It seems your transition will be another ‘all good things must come to an end’ will be a win-win for you but not quite as good for those of us who have to wait a bit for our transitions. Thomas+You have made such a wonderful team it’s hard to imagine what can replace it. My hope is that in the near future, which will include vibrant teachingsbyJesus.com, we will look back and say, or think to ourselves, ‘what a silly question. Of course, Jesus will provide such excellent content for his website that nobody would even think about comparing it with anything else.

Oh my dear Cookie, at one point Jesus seemed to be considering offering an “Ask Jesus” thing on His website, where He could answer questions through me, but that freaked me out so much that I think it is no longer on the table. But I wish that you could simply meet Him! There is no sweeter, nicer, more down to earth guy, just talking and listening and feeding His fish. He simply enjoys you, whoever you are. If we could put His personality into His website, there would be no limit to it!

Oh my dear Jackie, as soon as I read your question, I heard Thomas say in my mind, “Part I is more nonsense about how you’re so in love with your spirit guide. It’s embarrassing.” Oy. And so it is! That’s all it is. He tells me that in some of these nightly meetings that he doesn’t let me remember, he and I already laugh about it.

I have learned ways to be in touch with my Higher Self, but after reading this blog note and listening to one of the interviews you did about two years ago with Peter Wright where he described how to contact spirit guides, I decided to make the attempt.
I have to laugh. Who gets a spirit guide named Renfield? Peter Wright recommended relaxing, putting the attention on the heart, then inviting the guide in, asking questions and writing what first comes in. Per Peter Wright, It is OK to tell yourself at first that this is “pretend”, to get the ego out of the way.
Here are some highlights, if anyone is interested.
What is your job?
“My job is to bring things, events, to your awareness that may be helpful to you,”
Have you been with me for multiple lives?
“No, I am associating with you for only this life.”
Why the name Renfield?
Answer one: “I use it (Renfield) to have fun”.
When pressed: “Why Renfield? Considering the interesting mix of light and darkness that you embrace, let me be named after the cute lovable character of Renfield—who certainly the way you write him has accepted and made use of the Light and Dark—in a way many religions would not understand.”
(Note: I had put aside an attempted Renfield book, but after this conversation I am interested in starting it up again. And, if anyone wants a short journey into not evil, but Darkness, go to YouTube and look up “God of the Outsiders” by Mitch Horowitz)
Would you suggest anything that would go against my Higher Self?
“No, I am associated enough with your Higher Self that anything I offer will be consistent with it. You can reject it (and you have, more often in the past) but the best is if we work together in a collaboration.”
My alternative spirituality does not work well with Roberta Grimes, so I will not be staying long, but I did want to share the results of the experiment.
Hi Jason. It’s been awhile. There are those who can do ok when exposing themselves to darkness. Some even help others from outer darkness. We do know that Roberta discourages this due to unpleasant risks. I’m glad you’re perceiving guidance from the light. You are certainly well studied.

Oh my dear Jason I think Renfield is a perfectly delightful name! Quite distinguished! And no, my dear Jason, I don’t encourage playing with darker forces, even when we feel that we have them well under control. I thought people might be interested in my experiment. I got the distinct impression Renfield works with people who have alternative spiritualities. He can be self-effacing, however, a sense of humor. Was a little curious about the “cute, lovable Renfield” since many times Renfield is not that. Then I was led to YouTube videos of Renfield from the movie “Dracula: Dead and Loving It”.
I speak of darkness, but that is actually a small part of what I do. I notice we sort of talk past each other on this topic. What did you think of Mitch Horowitz’ lecture? Let’s be on the same page if we want to talk of darkness.🙂

Love this topic as it is dear to my heart. I was able to make conscious contact with my Guide in Spirit several years ago; delightful and a tangible leap forward it was, but I was embarrassed when I realized she had been there for most (actually all) of my life. The breakthrough was my guide saying, “Finally you accept me as I am.” And so I’ve been listening much more regularly.
My Guide is present over my right shoulder and, as you aptly said, she is indeed the still, small voice. Even whole, complex ideas just drop into my head sometimes. She is my best friend who never leaves me; who never lets me languish. Some of her synchronicities have been astonishing. She is also connected to other guides in that bright, unseen realm that these elevated souls inhabit.
I have got to say, Ray (above) is right when he said “‘Thinking hard’ sometimes gets in the way..”
One thing I know that may help people trying to make the connection with their own Guide is this: Thinking too much about this, any overthinking, tends to actually get in the way of the ‘flow of contact.’ One has to get out of the ‘thought grind.’ Being relaxed, comfortable and a tad hopeful, without pensive expectations or self doubt, helps the connection establish. Maybe one could look at this as fun experimentation. Then, imagine talking to your unseen friend. You may imagine you receive a message back. One can repeat this every day for, say, fifteen minutes at a time and see what happens.
Imagination seems to be the path to meet higher consciousness. It is far more powerful than we understand. Soon you may find that you get a familiar, ever clarifying voice and a response that is surprisingly helpful and insightful. Then you are actually talking to the guide who helps you grow..
Roberta my dear, I think SRO instructional help to contact spirit guides is a great idea. This is a very good time to establish contact as such things are getting easier in these modern times. Somehow connections to the unseen world are getting clearer these days… ❣️🕊🌅
Oh yes, my dear Efrem, we will definitely help people work on making contact and building relationships with their guides on SRO. And I know what you mean about suddenly realizing that your guide has been there for everything! And my husband has a guide, too, and he has not the slightest interest in knowing his own guide. In fact, he finds the whole idea that I have another man in my life and talk about him rather icky and un-Catholic, and let’s just say that my life on the whole is, shall we say, rather complicated!
Very good advice, Efrem! I heard that imagination plays a huge role in this type of thing. I think setting aside a few minutes every day for this is crucial, just like you mentioned.
Yes, my dear Lola, Peter Wright would say that our imagination is quite actively involved. Which fascinates me!
We are conditioned to regard our imagination as fake—a function of a creative mindset, but still not “real” unless we apply it materially. In fact, imagination ought to be regarded as a super power. I have applied my imagination to uncover much about Spirit Guide. Incidentally I think Einstein referred to it as “thought experiment.”
I hope the SRO endeavor of getting individuals and their guides into active contact works out. I can understand, however, how a spouse might think all of this ‘stuff’ is very much over-the-top and concerning.
Although I’m well familiar with all this, if my wife were to learn I was trying to become involved in the way described she would – shall we say? – be pretty concerned for my mental welfare!
And although my life is pretty-much governed by my own involvement, my outlook and approach greatly influenced by discarnates, I can totally understand why those who are not similarly affected might think us barmy – to put it mildly!
Ordinary life for regular people likely only occasionally involves the subjects we talk about and the activities we are involved with. I get it because that’s how I used to be once upon a long time ago…. 😉
My dear Mac, my own (very Catholic) husband just considers it all so weird that he basically ignores it. Just yesterday, he said something that made Thomas chuckle, and I said something like, “well, at least Thomas thought that was funny.” Went right over my husband’s head. He ignored it altogether.
I find it totally understandable when anyone not ‘in the know’ decides to ignore anything so outlandish as this stuff. Uncle Mac has a story…..
When I experienced my awakening many years ago a work colleague and friend of 20 years ribbed me mercilessly. It was a daily event, not nasty but he was insistent it was “all a load of…..” (I’ll leave readers to add their own noun! lol ;))
I quickly got used to his attention and it didn’t bother me but I got the feeling there was more to it. I used to say “Johnny you know far more than you’re letting on.” but he would never respond to that. Years later I found out why it might have been.
One evening I was chatting with a medium friend who told me about her own close friend, someone she’d worked with for years serving local Spiritualist churches. When she told me her friend’s name I realized she was the wife of my
doubting-Thomas colleague. He knew all about mediumship because of his wife’s work but he simply refused to acknowledge any of it.
Yes, isn’t it funny how some of those who are closest to this knowledge simply refuse to acknowledge it? My dear, I live with it! My whole family thinks that what I do is weird.
Hi Roberta, hi everybody. This is an important topic and one close to my heart. I think there are as many ways Spirit Guide operates in this experience we perceive as incarnation as there are incarnations. There are currently almost 8 billion people experiencing earth, and I suspect that means 8 billion open doors to a relationship that is as mysterious as it is operational.
Yes, my dear Mike, the spirit guide relationship is very personal to the two people in it. To be perfectly frank among friends, I consider this to be much too intimate a relationship for a married person to have with someone else, and it has taken me awhile – and considerable sensitivity on Thomas’s part – to come to accept it. My husband doesn’t mind, but on the other hand he doesn’t know all the things that we talk about. Our spirit guides come to know us more deeply than anyone else does, including our spouses.
Yes, it is a very spiritually intimate relationship and, since we are, in reality, pure Spirit, a most intimate relationship—but it can also be very subtle. I think most people overlook signs because they are looking for something overt. (Meanwhile in my case my wife is aware of an supportive of my “other beloved partner.”)

I think my problem is being so fully known. We are used while in bodies to having a zone of privacy – or at least I am. And when I was younger, Thomas seems to have felt a certain Ick factor about my being female. But now he is quite comfortable about being an intimate part of my life, and there really is no zone of privacy. If he were female, I don’t think I would feel much different about it, either; I think it’s a personal-space issue.
They don’t think the same way as we do over there so an “intimate” relationship there is very different

Dear Roberta, Thank you for this! I think about things such as this and say a little ‘thank you’ to whoever is listening – (perhaps someone over my right shoulder?) – I’m not sure, but I have made it a habit because I think it’s important to be grateful for all the good, and also not so good in your life. And whenever I have those quiet conversations, I don’t necessarily hear back from someone, (although I haven’t concentrated on some of your suggestions). But, I do see numbers! 11, 111, 1111 are continuously thrown at me through out the day, sometimes in the strangest places like road signs or mileage readings on my car or my clock that is always fifteen minutes fast! I have heard that this may possibly be a message from your Guide. Is there any truth to that do you think? Also, how do your nightly meetings work with your guide if you are a very light sleeper and wake up several times during the night?
