Jesus

Joy to the world! The Lord is come.
Let earth receive her King!
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing!
And heaven and nature sing!
And heaven, and heaven and nature sing!
– Isaac Watts (1674-1748), from “Joy to the World” (1719)

As I woke up last Sunday morning, my Thomas said loudly and clearly in my mind, “Hear O Israel, The Lord Our God is One God.” It was the ancient Hebrew invocation, the beautiful call to prayer of the world’s first true monotheists. After we had spent most of that previous week working through Jesus’s teachings about God and religions for His website, and coming at last to the stunning understanding that Jesus had come to abolish religions altogether; and then after we had spent our nighttime work-time polishing and watching our post on the Trinity go live; and by the time I had finished dressing for our walk on a bright but almost-freezing morning that was unusually cold for Austin:  by then all the bits that our many revelations of the previous week had shaken loose had fallen into place in my mind. Omigod. Now I understood why it was so important that Jesus be born a Jew, and why He had thought it was essential that He concentrate on teaching just the Jews. Now I understood why Jesus considered it to be crucial that in order for His teachings to be properly followed, they were going to need their own website, and why they would have to be taken way back and followed all over again right from the beginning. I thought that at last I understood everything. Joy to the World, indeed!!

Far from having been born to free us from our sins, Jesus had been born to free us altogether from religions. And my sweet Thomas was smiling now. I had been fighting this ultimate conclusion so hard! But I was finally getting it. Religions had been among humankind’s earliest inventions, our necessary comfort in the lonely dark as our fully human minds were developing. But just as we eventually outgrew using stone tools that we had learned to chip to create an edge, so we also finally outgrew the need to relate to God by means of religions. And so Jesus had come at last as God’s emissary to the world’s first true monotheists, to teach them how they could better relate to God individually and internally.

And then on Monday morning it first occurred to me that I had not heard from Jesus in months. Not since September, I thought. Or perhaps not even since August. I was trying to produce the content that we had laid out for His website. But instead, what I was getting from Him through Thomas was different from the teachingsbyjesus.com master plan. It was beautiful, though. I thought it might even be better than our original plan. I was sending it to Craig Hogan, whose design team was putting the website together, and Craig was sufficiently confused by what he was getting that on last Monday afternoon he sent me the website’s prototype again. And when I saw that prototype for the first time since September, I sat and looked at it. We had first begun to talk about this website last spring, when seekreality.com had been our focus, and Jesus had been telling us that He didn’t want His website to go live until next spring. And now I realized what Jesus’s problem might be.

So then on Monday night I had what I told my husband on Tuesday with a giggle had been “a come-to-Jesus meeting” with Jesus. I could laugh about it, because although Thomas wouldn’t let me remember the details of that meeting, I felt relieved to have the sense that it had gone well. I had needed to request a meeting with Jesus, because He never would have called me on the carpet Himself. But it was clear to me as soon as I saw it again that the prototype for the website must have upset Him. And we had to fix this right away!

Discarnate beings are subtly different from us in some ways, and that is true even of Beings at the highest levels. For one thing, they seem to think more literally in relation to earth matters than we do. And there had been a lot of me on that prototype website as its narrator and resident expert, so my first thought was that all of me should be removed. But when I woke up on Tuesday morning with crib notes from our meeting in my mind, I found that none of that had bothered Jesus. No, people would need a person living on earth to relate to, and He considered me to be a good choice. But as I had suspected, Jesus had been very much bothered by that prototype website, and what had bothered Him had been that they had included a large Bible just as casual decor, and also there had been that immensely horrifying word, “Christian.” So then, Jesus had seen what was supposed to be His own website as instead hexed and condemned to become just one more Christian website, and lumped together with everything else on earth that is Christian and only carries His name. So at that point He had mentally turned off on our project altogether.

People think of Jesus as the founder of Christianity, but Jesus the Man has had nothing to do with Christianity. Three hundred years after Jesus’s death, the Romans under Constantine appropriated Jesus’s name and destroyed His then-thriving spiritual movement, and they created from its ashes a religion to be used for their own purposes. Their religion is not Jesus’s religion. Even now, He doesn’t seem to take any proprietary pride in Christianity, although He does dearly love all the Christian people. And now, as the religion wanes, Jesus wants to resurrect His own spiritual movement from before the Roman Emperor Constantine stole it away, which He certainly has a right to do. But He wants to resurrect it from before there ever was a Christianity! And He cannot see why people find it hard to think of Him as just Himself alone, without the Christian religion attached to Him. Even I find that hard to do, so I can see why most people are going to find doing it to be almost impossible.

Thomas has been helping me to create the materials for Jesus’s website. We use the same sort of hybrid channeling process by which we produce these posts each week: I have the hands so I do the research and the writing, but a lot of the time he steps in and adds his thoughts and sometimes he even works the fingers. It makes for a very efficient collaboration. And Thomas knows Jesus a lot better than I do, so when it comes down to drawing some ultimate conclusions, Thomas has to do that. For example, I can see that he is right, and I can see how he gets there, but without his backup I could not alone come right out and say that Jesus was sent by God to abolish the very concept of religions and teach us to relate to God internally. For me alone, that is several bridges too far! In part, because the implications of even saying the words are so tremendous. I mean, it is one thing to separate Jesus from Christianity and tell people that Jesus is independent and we can relate to Jesus independently and that is what He wants from us now. But, God too? Give up on religions altogether, knowing that God is independently real and you can relate to God in your deepest heart at every moment, and God will hear and answer you?

Jesus did in fact say, however, that we should pray to God directly. Naturally they don’t talk about this much in the churches, but there has never been anyone harder on religions and the clergy than our wonderful and much-beloved Master Jesus. That sweet and gentle soul called the clergy of His day knaves and hypocrites, and He told people simply to pray without them. He said, “When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.  But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you” (MT 6:5-6). In fact, Jesus seems for most of His ministry on earth to have taught and prayed outdoors, rather than in any house of worship. Prior to His crucifixion, Jesus took His disciples to pray with Him, again outdoors, in the Garden of Gethsemane.

So really, all that Jesus had needed from me on Monday night was my fresh assurance that for the rest of my earthly life I would work for Him and never for Christianity. When I asked Him if He wanted changes to His prototype website, it turned out that He had thought about it, and He wanted a couple of changes that matched what Thomas and I had already been writing. He also told me – and I thought this was cute – that He wanted His website to look the way His personal website would have looked in the year 28 CE. Otherwise, He told me that all is well and all of our understandings are right.

I don’t know how amazing this feels to you, but I consider it to be news that rocks the world.

We have just now learned that Jesus came to earth two thousand years ago to teach the world’s first true monotheists how to get past the need for religions altogether, and how to relate to God individually and internally. Religions were a temporary and primitive stage of human spiritual development that should have ended two thousand years ago! Perhaps another Omigod might be appropriate here? And we are learning this on Christmas morning? This was also why Jesus was so obsessed with bringing the kingdom of God on earth. This was what all of that was about! The Lord’s Prayer itself makes as its most prominent plea the call for God to reign on earth: “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (MT 6:10). And this is also why Jesus insists that the kingdom of God will be internal. He says, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs that can be observed; nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is within you” (LK 17:20-22). And as the kingdom of God overspreads the earth, we will at last joyfully stop being cringing creatures controlled by fears instilled in us by Pharisees and Sadducees – or, today, by Calvinist ministers and Catholic priests – and begin to be genuinely spiritual beings who are always in intimate contact with God!

You can clearly see this process beginning in the Gospels. Jesus is, even today, the most charismatic Man you can imagine, and soon crowds were following Him wherever He went. The Gospels tell us that He was “speaking to them about the kingdom of God, and curing those who had need of healing” (see e.g. LK 9:11). He soon began to send out emissaries to preach the kingdom of God, telling them, “Whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat what is served to you; and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you’” (LK 10:8-9). Or, “Whatever city you enter and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your city which clings to our feet we wipe off in protest against you; yet know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ I say to you, it will be more tolerable on that day for Sodom than for that city’” (LK 10:11).

Following His resurrection, Jesus gave to His disciples what is now called the Great Commission when He said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, …  teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (MT 28:19-20). And so it was very well begun! Jesus’s nascent movement had millions of followers when Constantine destroyed it three hundred years later.

Jesus is indeed our Savior! He came to save this world from ignorance! And a two-thousand-year setback means nothing to Him now. Please, my dear friends, let’s all aid Him in this. We know now that Jesus came to open our hearts to a much deeper relationship with God. And we have just received the greatest gift of our lives.

Joy to the world! The Savior reigns.
Let men their songs employ.
While fields and floods,
Rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy!
Repeat the sounding joy!
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy!
– Isaac Watts (1674-1748), from “Joy to the World” (1719)

  1. Oh Roberta
I have only finished 2 chapters of “Fun of Loving Jesus”
and I thought Roberta is so fierce in dropping Christianity!!!
I thought I better tell her to tone it down!
    But I kept reading.
Roberta your words are changing me.I am braver, stronger,
kinder and the scope of my life is much bigger.
This new Erica answered my guy with decisiveness.
I allowed my sister closer to me.
    Old friends called
The man that mows our lawn smiled sweetly at me
lf two chapters can transform me in my heart and mind, I
    know this very powerful stuff.
Your book is glowing I am all in. Love, Erica
    am amazed!

    1. Oh my dear beautiful Erica, it isn’t my book! It came from Jesus through Thomas, and Jesus is God. I understand that better than I ever did before, after having spent more than a month of concentrated work on channeling the teachingsbyjesus.com content. But I love that book beyond anything I ever have worked on before, and if you are finding it helpful then I am thrilled!

You should know, though, that we are being allowed to remove His Story from the appendices for now, and we are going to put it just on His website for the time being. It is all true, but there is a lot more to it, and anyway reincarnation is a disfavored idea in the West and we don’t want it to detract from the rest of the book.

  2. If there were millions of followers of Jesus before Christianity as a religion was founded, and stole it away, and introduced dogmas and controls that didn’t exist before, I wonder if there is any historical record of the backlash and discontent from these “millions” that would indicate their reaction?

Separate comment: Long live the End of Religion! And Amen to the End of Ignorance!

    1. Oh my dear Adrian, I think they were too busy being massacred, dying on crosses, and being fed to lions to say very much, sad to say.

    2. Hello.
You are opening a can of worms if you go down that line of questioning. And, from Roberta Grimes’ response to you, she is not interested in opening that can either. She’s trying to keep the story simple, easy to understand. I would personally like it if she expanded on what she told me, get into some of the complexity of the first few hundred years, but right now she is choosing not to do that.

      1. Oh my dear Jason, do you think that my response was too harsh? I haven’t much studied that first flowering of the Lord’s teachings, but from what I understand from Thomas, who lived a lifetime then, it was a beautiful explosion of loving ideas and ways to live together in love all across the whole Mediterranean area. He died on a cross with a number of other people, and he swears to me that they sang for two days as they were dying, which is impossible because you can’t even breathe on a cross, never mind sing! But he says that is how happy that time was for people. But the Romans chose the one brutal strain of Christianity and stamped all the rest of it out.

  3. Dearest Roberta,
I am confused by one word in this blog. I think I can understand this: “how to relate to God individually”, but add a word or two to make “how to relate to God individually and internally”; I am lost. How do I relate to God internally? Internal to what or whom? Us, Jesus, God, or even our closet? Thank you in advance for simplifying this.

    Yours,

    Cookie

    1. My dear Cookie, the kingdom of God is within you! (see LK 17:21) Jesus came to teach us to relate to God individually, in our own minds and hearts.

  4. Hi Roberta,
Your message feels right. Your bravery is limitless. Your truth feels 100% correct to me. I believe we were meant to share our lives directly with Jesus. We don’t need anyone or anything else to be a go between. Along with reading your books I’m in my 8th reading of “The Christ Returns Speaks his truth” the author is ‘recorder’. Your information matches the channeled information in this books perfectly. I’m so happy to have found you. I send you boatloads of Blessings.
    🙂
    Patti

    1. Oh my dear Patti, thank you for telling me that Jesus has said these things through someone else as well! I am not at all surprised. He is so very determined now to do this, so He likely is saying the same things through lots of people. And as for bravery, I don’t feel at all brave. I feel quite cowardly, in fact. But when Jesus looks at you, you would do anything for Him, literally. I am glad that you have found us here as well!

  5. June 25, 2022, From a News Punch article: Pope Francis: ‘Relationships with Jesus Are Dangerous and Harmful’
Breaking with centuries of Christian tradition, Pope Francis told a crowd of 33,000 Catholics in Rome that “a personal, direct, immediate relationship with Jesus Christ” must be avoided at all costs, (‘without the church’ was omitted in most media stories).
When I first heard this, it made no sense. Now it does.
    Thanks Roberta. Merry Christmas everyone!

    1. Wow, my dear AC, did the Pope really say that? No wonder Jesus seems to see Christianity as still so antithetical to Him, even now! Because it still is!!

      1. I think, like so many other ‘leaders’, he is terrified of losing control. He has said quite a few things that I found disturbing such as, the U.S. must be brought under global control “for our own good”. Very anti individual.

        1. Yes – I agree, my dear AC. That totalitarian bent comes partly from the history of Catholicism, and partly from this Pope’s own socialist history. He is indeed strongly against the rights of the individual! But everything on Jesus’s website will come from the Biblical Gospels. Everything. When I told my husband that the Vatican Gestapo is about to come knocking at our door, he asked me what they could have to complain about when all I’m doing is helping Jesus to spread His original message. Good point.

          1. Dear Roberta and everyone else, as I read „knocking at our door“, I laughed out loudly! A few days ago, as I was in the garden feeding the birds, two women appeared out of the blue. They were members of a great sect, which as far as I know takes all the money from their members and kind of „brainwashes“ them to recruit more and more new members. They are trained rhetorically, but this doesn‘ t work with me. In the last years I sometimes got a bit angry, because they rang at the door again and again, although I told them that I wasn’t interested. This time I was absolutely friendly, but firmly told them that I myself had had my own personal experiences and don’ t need any religion or sect to tell me what to believe. They tried to give me a paper to read and I said, I only would take this paper from them if they would take a paper about Buddhism or something else from me. (I could‘ t help making a bit fun of the situation; shame on me…!)
Whenever I think of both the Catholic and the Protestant church, „preaching water and drinking wine“ comes to my mind. Thinking of all the horrible things the various churches have done over the centuries, I find it really absurd that they still claim to hold the truth. But many people can be influenced so easily, namely in times like this with one crisis after the other.
The two ladies in our garden looked quite astonished and I felt pity for them. I would have liked to tell them to take their feet and run as long as they can (to escape from this sect), but I just wished them well and to have their own experiences.
Merry Christmas to all of you!

        2. Dear AC,
Given what we’ve been learning from Jesus not just in word but deed, I am given to be reminded these people are loved by him, and they are our brothers, who simply are not “awake” yet; are lead by fear, have been instilled with the same dogmas and doctrines as many of us. I would also suggest as has been suggested to me, to always ask Holy Spirit for discernment and guidance when reading articles. Note the source, really ask about the truth of it, why are they promoting that story, who stands to “gain”. Jesus has often advised to turn away (repent) from what causes us separation (sin). Put our focus on being Love no matter what arises, and on what we love and stop giving our energy-seeking “battles” as if we must defend and “fight” for what we believe is the truth. He has always advised to “pray for our enemies”. I’m not pleased with RC after being raised in it; but I do understand, with Jesus’ help, that they need my love and prayers not judgement. As more and more of us live as Love in peace, they too will awaken. It’s fear that drives them. We all know how that feels.

        1. Hi Fran and Merry Christmas.
The statement was made in 2014 and is addressed in the Catholic church’s website. They tried to tone it down a bit but they didn’t deny it. This Pope has said a number of things that I questioned, but he speaks his mind and I can’t fault him for that.

        2. Oh my dear beautiful Fran, sad to say, He did say that. One of our friends here sent me a video of Pope Francis saying it – in Italian, but with subtitles, and I don’t know Italian but that language is close enough to Spanish that I could read and listen along. My dear, the Vatican cannot risk letting its laity know the truth at this point!

      1. My dear Adrian, you will better understand when teachingsbyjesus.com goes live. But 1700 years ago, the organization that the Pope now heads destroyed Jesus’s thriving spiritual movement and appropriated His name, and now 2000 years later Jesus has the internet means to fight back. That the Pope would say something like that suggests that He might know that Jesus actually now intends to fight back. Wow. Amazing. So perhaps the Catholic church is actually going to come after little bitty us??

AC, do you have a link to that article that you can share?

          1. Please see my note above. This is a fake news website. It’s pointless to give credence to the article.

  6. Dear Roberta,
Gloria! Today’s message is so joyful and uplifting! In the end, I realized THIS is the “awakening”, the “new world” that has been talked about with great anticipation in the spiritual circles for years. Things are being “made right”! What you present makes sense…so much makes sense!!!! Truly, Joy to the world!!!

    1. My dear Fran, the only truth is God’s truth, and no religion has it. All religions are just human-made. And Jesus is God indeed! I have no doubt of that now. My only anxiety is that He has chosen such a slender reed upon which to place so much weight, but all that I can do is try!

  7. Dear Aunt Roberta:
I saw You on ‘Next Level Soul’ about a week ago. It took a few days for Your Comments to Sink In, but once They did…I began to realize that You are that One-in-a’MIllion who I thought I would Never See or Hear on the Internet. What You have written on this Blog feels almost like I could have written it Myself. Jesus and Organized Christianity have been at Odds with One Another for Centuries. But People who embrace Christianity…seem to enjoy The FEAR that comes along with the Harsh Penalties afforded by those Who DO NOT embrace the Dogmas that the Religion is Bound to…like barbed wire. I am 72.y/o…and a Guru’s Child…practice Meditation…and firmly believe that in his earlier years…Jesus traveled to India…both to learn & teach…and their are records in isolated Tibetan Buddhist Temples that document it. The Vatican denies this to the bitter end…even as they too have had. hidden records, in their Vaults, documenting the same thing. When The Theology of their Religion is threatened…Denial bellows out from the Rooftops. Placing Jesus in India would force Theologists to explain the missing years of Christ’s Life…both Historically & Biblically. Jesus himself was a Truth Seeker…and He knew where Truth was taught. The Brahman Priests new that Jesus was a Highly-Evolved SOUL and welcomed Him…until He began condemning the Caste System. He fled when they planned to jail him, and He traveled higher into the Himalayan Buddhist Retreats to gather More Wisdom. It is Amazing to Me that Jesus…through Thomas…has chosen You to Cleanse & Clarify His Gospel Message so many Centuries after He Ascended. Perhaps Mankind is Now Ready to Hear it from the Horse’s Mouth. I look forward to Reading More of You beautifully-explained Wisdom…laid out in Clear & Easy-to-Understand Eloquence
    Be Blessed…

    1. Oh my dear William, if it amazes you that Jesus has chosen me, please know that I am flat-out flabbergasted! The explanation that I have been given is that I am actually a follower of Jesus’s and a junior colleague of Thomas’s through repeated incarnations. As you likely know, when we incarnate we forget everything that came before. And yes, my particular role is to make things as simple to understand as possible!

  8. Why leave the West ignorant of reincarnation? It’s a wheel
that completes the circle. The Garden of Eden is true.
Metaphor or fact,we are separated from God by our fear of merging. Reincarnation gives all the lives we need.
Love helps a lot Having an immortal soul is wonderful!
It’s our only job. I cannot dance, but I can walk. When fear
starts up, I will forgive myself and start to walk again…

    1. Dear Erica, the Councillors at First Nicaea in 325 thought that it would be better if you thought that you would have only one lifetime, because then you would “try harder.” I know how really stupid that sounds, but that was the reason they gave for removing every reference to reincarnation that they could find from the Gospels. Really, really dumb.

  9. Dearest Roberta,
This is quite an enlightening and ‘rousing’ blog. You know, I have been moving in the general direction of getting out of religion for many years now. Letting go of religion, immersing in Spirit and growing my inner relationship with the Divine has felt the right way to go.

Hence I agree that myriad denominations of Christianity do not hold God within them. The hearts of people do. It is in the hearts of the congregants where Our Lord can be found. Jesus, quite frankly, always feels far too big to be contained by religion. The glimpse of Him in the New Testament that informs our picture of ‘Church Jesus’ really does limit Him to a narrow form. Lord Yeshua is far, far more vast than He who is described in the Bible. Our Lord cannot be limited!

Hence, it is logical that The Way of Jesus need not be confused with any Christian denomination. It stands alone.

Being of the Jewish faith and transforming into a follower of Jesus of Nazareth actually feels quite amazing. However what do I call myself? What do I say when people ask what religion I identify with? I have chosen to call myself a Nazarene; A follower of the Way of Jesus of Nazareth. It is fitting that I choose to take my bearings from Jesus Himself and not from Christianity as a whole. It just feels so right to do this.

And this self definition links me to the first followers of Jesus who were Jewish and gentile alike. The followers of The Way seemed wonderful to me: They were kindly, familial communities of equals who focused closely on Jesus’ Teachings.

There were no Catholic dogmas for the first three centuries after the birth of Jesus. And the myriad Old Testament strictures had been newly set aside. This early time of following Jesus was a rare period of freedom, without binding Jewish rules or Church dogmas. It seems like the only time when people were free to focus on the actual Teachings and Person of Jesus. To me the nascent movement had become akin to a philosophy; the Philosophy of the Heart, as it were. ❣️

In this radical new movement there were no priestly hierarchies, and men and women both had major roles in this unique, new society equally. Each and every person had an inner relationship with Jesus and prayed quietly and without ostentation. Communities were love, gratitude and forgiveness centered.

Wouldn’t it be incredible to live in a community like that today?! 🙏🏼🌅🕊

    1. Oh my dear beloved Efrem, I have read your comment several times over the past twenty-four hours, and each time it has given me the same exultant feeling! Yesterday I recorded a Seek Reality episode meant to go live to announce teachingsbyjesus.com, and I recorded it in part with tears on my cheeks. Jesus felt so real to me – He was right there with me as I was saying His words! Sam (our wonderful engineer) told me afterwards that he could clean up my mistakes, because it is hard to speak clearly when you are crying. Oh my dear one, how can they have kept Him bottled up as they did, and for so long? The whole religion is one gigantic lie! But you are precisely right, my dear one – His movement was all Jews who were drawn to that beautiful, charismatic young Man who really in fact was God on earth, and who came to teach such gigantic truths!

      1. I searched for the date we stopped believing the 🌎
was flat and some groups still believe the Earth
        is flat!
        ignorance is our foe
Once you really have faith in Jesus, fear begins to
        fade.
In the Bagabagita, they say, “Even a little of this
delivers from great fear”.That always made me
calm. Krishna-God told Arguna just get out there
and fight. The truth of an immortal soul!!!
Loving Jesus is a full-time job.
I am glad I have all of you, clarifying and correcting
        me Erica

        1. Dear lovely Erica, I dimly still recall how it felt to be afraid, and it was simply ignorance. Nothing but ignorance of the unknown! Once I understood that the darkness was full of nothing but God’s love, I never was afraid again. And now I lie smiling in perfect darkness and send love into it, and I can feel God’s love smiling back at me.

  10. The whole idea was to keep people scared so they could control them (and keep the money rolling in). Constantine and the Council of Nicea ruined the Jesus movement
