Afterlife Research, The Source, Understanding Reality
What’s it all about, Alfie?
Is it just for the moment we live?
What’s it all about when you sort it out, Alfie?
Are we meant to take more than we give?
Or are we meant to be kind? And if only fools are kind, Alfie,
Then I guess it is wise to be cruel.
And if life belongs only to the strong, Alfie,
What will you lend on an old golden rule?
As sure as I believe there’s a heaven above, Alfie,
I know there’s something much more.
Something even non-believers can believe in.
– Burt Bacharach (1928-2023), from “Alfie” (1966)
The greatest evidence for the existence of a Perfect Intelligence underlying this reality is the fact that you yourself exist. Well, it’s the fact that anything exists for more than an unstable instant; but you might consider your own existence to be as good evidence of the Intelligence that holds reality stable as any other evidence that we might consider. The more scientists study our material reality, astrophysicists and chemists, quantum and nuclear physicists and biologists and whichever-other-scientific-disciplines you might name, the more they discover that the odds against any of our present reality actually existing right now, and just as it is, for more than even a split-nanosecond, or even an amazing zeptosecond, are astronomical, having been calculated to be something like 1 in 10229. And since much of this reality’s existence at any given zeptosecond relies upon its maintaining its own self in existence, we must assume that without some way to keep all of its billions of separate components in perfect ongoing balance with all of its other separate components within those necessarily extremely tiny tolerances for, let’s say, at least long enough for me to even finish writing this sentence, are in fact extremely long. So then, the odds against the possibility that you will be able to read on Sunday what I am now writing on the previous Wednesday are very far beyond extremely long indeed. Those odds are in fact so long, given how many zeptoseconds we are talking about having to pass here, that they seem to be beyond all calculation.
And so, there you have it, my dear and precious friends. Please try not to spit your coffee as this realization dawns on you, but only know for a certainty that if this material universe has continued to exist in stable form for long enough for me to finish writing this blog post over four whole days of slow earth-time while I also have been doing other things, and for me then eventually to send it to you, so you can have read the sentence that ended the previous paragraph, perhaps on next Sunday morning sometime, then you and I have just completed an actual scientific experiment. Omigod, how many quintiptozillion zeptoseconds are there in four whole days of earth-time? And how is it even conceivable that this entire greater reality has held itself in perfect alignment and not fallen to pieces in all that time? You and I have just proven beyond question that there is a living, aware, and highly attentive Intelligence which is capable at the very least of maintaining this reality’s stability within vanishingly tiny tolerances, and inside each given fraction of every zeptosecond of time as that time was running in this material reality for all that time. And of course, we have proven something else as well. We also have proven that intelligent life exists on planet earth. Not brilliant life, perhaps! (I had to add that qualifier for any actual scientist who ever might read this blog post.) But life here has at least developed to the point where we have evolved people who can read and write. We will tackle next week the additional source of wonderment that we can derive from the fact that, amazingly, life also has developed on earth and has evolved to this point.
You and I need not give the Supreme Intelligence maintaining this reality that we now have proven must exist any name. And to avoid yanking the materialist scientists’ whiskers, we certainly will not here call that Intelligence “God.” The word “god” is just a word that primitive humans made up in ancient times to call what they were pretty sure must be the Intelligence that had made up their reality, and to whose honor they then built their fear-based idols. Their gods, including Moloch, for example, were made in those people’s own image. So all those false gods that people had created then demanded that people do horrible things, like Moloch’s insistence that we throw all our firstborn babies alive into the fires in their gods’ bellies, which was pretty bad. So eventually, even after the Intelligence had at last introduced Itself to the ancient Hebrews, speaking from out of a burning bush to be sure the Intelligence had Moses’s attention, and It tried to give us some real guidance, some fond parental love and support, people still thought their gods must surely be as brutal and venal as the people were themselves. Se we expected that our gods must want sacrifices of, if not our children, then at least our cows and sheep; and then at last, that the God who spoke to Moses must for certain want the sin-sacrifice of God’s Own Firstborn Son? Will that finally be enough, God? OMG, we human beings are extremely slow learners! And so it was that, long ago, we created our whole litany of fear-based and barbaric religions. We decided that it had to be a good idea to close our minds to the genuine Intelligence’s pure and radical Love for us that always has been offered entirely without human cost, and instead we have given only blind and fearful worship to whatever this Intelligence is that we cannot see.
You and I have just this morning demonstrated that the Intelligence which maintains this complex reality in continuous existence (and therefore likely also created it) still is lovingly caring for it and for us, literally in every micro-instant. And knowing that same Intelligence continuously exists should be, and should always have been, just a natural part of a mainstream science which is free to study everything! Let me say that again, more plainly. Scientists in 1900 could have conducted the same experiment that you and I conducted this morning, concluded that there is in fact an underlying Intelligence, and set modern mainstream science free to study all of reality, including that Intelligence. But that is not what happened. Mainstream science is not free now, and for the simple reason that thousands of years ago, humankind created “gods”, created mythologies around their gods, and created religions as a fear-based way to deal with their human-made gods and those gods’ fake mythologies. And then, around the year 1900, the modern scientific research gatekeepers, which are the university departments and the peer-reviewed journals, were frankly spooked by the advent of quantum mechanics. The gatekeepers decided that they had to firm up the line between science and human-made religions; and in doing that, they established materialism as science’s “fundamental dogma”. Now, anything with a dogma is a religion, by definition, so what they really did was just to turn mainstream science into one more religion. Soon after the year 1900, mainstream science became what has amounted to the religion of materialistic atheism.
This decision, which was reflexive, panicky, and probably meant to be temporary, very soon became permanent. We are told that even now, scientific Ph.D. candidates who plan to investigate or teach in any field which goes beyond what is strictly prescribed by those scientific gatekeepers, are told that they needn’t bother to complete their degrees, since they never will find a job. Dr. Rupert Sheldrake’s famously banned twelve-year-old Tedx talk is a great summation of just how badly mainstream scientific inquiry has been wrecked by that early-twentieth-century dogma! I urge you to watch his whole talk, since it is just eighteen minutes long, and brilliant. To understand just how ridiculous modern scientific inquiry has become as a result of that dogma, you need to know nothing more than that, to this day, it is taken as an article of faith in mainstream science that consciousness must be produced by the human brain, There is no other possibility! Billions of dollars are still being wasted trying to find a source of consciousness inside your brain, which at this point, given what now is generally known, is the equivalent of trying to discover just how consciousness emanates from inside your eye. Or, for that matter, inside your left shoe.
And sadly, I am afraid that I cannot now be nearly as sanguine about the future of mainstream science as Dr. Sheldrake here seems to be! Thanks to the imposition of materialism on all of mainstream science more than a century ago, there now has been a whole century and a quarter of scientific research laid down, and so-called discoveries made, in papers published and in careers spent that all have been tainted by the false, nonsensical dogma of materialism. Simply pause and consider all the genius careers that have been half-wasted, or even wasted altogether. Consider all the possible discoveries that have not been made because the encouraging research leading in their direction has had to be abandoned when the funding was pulled since it seemed to be leading toward (gasp!) a non-material-seeming result! Productive science simply cannot be built upon such a shaky, beliefs-based foundation. To move forward at all, at some future point mainstream science as a discipline will have no other choice but to retreat to about the year 1900, and then begin to build a new and solid foundation from there that is based upon true and open-minded science.
So then, what IS it all about? I have devotedly subscribed to and routinely at least skimmed popular science magazines for the past forty years, so I have watched scientists go from a gleeful certainty that they were about to make their great breakthroughs at any moment in fields ranging from the origin of life, to a unified theory of everything, to this or that other wonderful discovery; and I have watched them go through all the various stages of grief to their present stage, where some of them even are faking it now, as even someone as clueless as I am can see; while other practicing scientists are just going through the motions of being happy about their having discovered one more little bit of triviality somewhere. Oh, over the past century, scientists have produced ever fancier electronics and material stuff. We are grateful for our smartphones and our Teslas! But all their efforts to better understand how reality actually works have gone nowhere. Maybe twenty years ago, I still could joke to my husband that Scientific American was actually a great humor magazine; but science is too pathetic now to even rise to the level of humor anymore.
The smallest unit of time that scientists ever have measured is what they call a zeptosecond. And don’t you just love that word! Oh my goodness, I do. It sounds every bit as fast as it is. A zeptosecond is a trillionth of a billionth of a second; and specifically, it takes 247 zeptoseconds for a light particle to cross a hydrogen molecule, according to Live Science. This question about time becomes important when we consider the central role that time plays in the ongoing scientific search for a unified theory; even though beyond materiality, in what we call the greater reality, or in other words in the dominant 95% of reality, time simply does not exist as it is experienced in this material universe. Or might geometry be the secret ticket? Still, time is critically important to those of us who briefly occupy material bodies in this material reality, simply because there are so many aspects of material reality that are required to remain stable within tiny tolerances of time and continuously, with no break in time whatsoever, in order for this material but still living universe to continue to exist. Thank you again so much for still bothering with us, even though we remain so clueless, dear beautiful and perfectly Loving Underlying Intelligence!
One tiny glimmer of hope is the fact that the attention of physicists has more and more shifted toward tentatively actually investigating consciousness. Still, though, they achieve frustratingly little in the way of concrete results, in part because all the mainstream scientific disciplines still are required to take it as an article of dogmatic faith that consciousness is produced by our human brains, rather than being received by them. This makes reading scientific articles about consciousness amusing for those of us who better understand what actually is going on. Another approach that can be taken, of course, is to consider each one of us to be a walking crowd; since, after all, our skin, our gut, every aspect of ourselves is covered in and full of millions, even billions of living beings, and if that were not so, then we could not survive. So, also, our minds, our thoughts, are in some ways invaded. And thus, by what we might call zeptosteps (do you see what I did there?), science marches bit by tiny bit toward sanity.
Those of us who have independently studied reality have come to understand that Dr. Max Planck was right, and consciousness is all that exists. In fact, there really is nothing else. What we experience as consciousness is both the sculptor and the clay. I have talked about this fact in these posts to the point of exhaustion, and in so many different ways, that you already know the Who and the Why! The Who is the great, Perfect Love that wants nothing more than your own great joy; and the Why is because that God, the Intelligence, the Great I Am, seeks your own perfection in ever greater and more perfect eternal Love!
I believe in love, Alfie.
Without true love we just exist, Alfie.
Until you find the love you’ve missed,
you’re nothing, Alfie.
When you walk, let your heart lead the way,
And you’ll find love any day, Alfie, Alfie!
