Jesus, The Source, The Teachings of Jesus
With what shall I come to the Lord,
And bow myself before the God on high?
Shall I come to Him with burnt offerings,
With yearling calves?
Does the Lord take pleasure in thousands of rams,
In ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I give Him my firstborn for my wrongdoings,
The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He has told you, O mortal one, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you,
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?
– Micah of Moresheth (c.737 BCE – c.696 BCE), from the Old Testament Book of Micah 6-8
On April 8, 1966, God died unexpectedly. It was big news at the time. But I was so thoroughly distracted back then, what with finishing college and moving to Manhattan, and then four months later choosing Boston instead because New York City was so godawful filthy; while I was at the time learning to program an IBM 360 computer the size of a house that had far less calculating power than does your tiny cellphone. And anyway, that whole God-is-dead thing soon turned out to be just a false alarm. The God that had nearly died in the sixties could not have been the genuine God. Because, amazingly, things just kept on ticking, which would not have been the case if the God Who had died had been the genuine Source of all Creation.
Being in direct contact with your spirit guide, and finding him willing to answer your questions, feels a lot like being able to secretly cheat on all your final exams. My Thomas probably doesn’t know everything, but he knows a whole lot more than I do. Over the years, he has wanted me to try to figure out most things on my own, and so I would only call on him toward the ends of my efforts, to break my mental ties; but, now that I have arrived at what seem to him to be some pretty close answers to the very biggest questions that he has been prompting me all along to ask, he has been helping me a lot more along the way. Just, kind of nudging me toward finding the most precisely right answers. And, among the very biggest things, at last he has persuaded me that all the religions now active on earth are wrong about the God of All. Thomas has patiently blogged with me as I have been learning more about the true and ultimate God, primarily because I have been having such a hard time accepting what I now see must be true. All the religions on earth have been created by human beings, so they have been tainted by the worst human impulses. Thomas has had a lot of trouble making me really see this clearly. He has repeatedly bonked me on the head with facts, and helped me to ever more clearly just plainly see these truths! Let’s look at some of the key elements of all the world’s religions. Because, whether we want to admit it or not, God is real! But every religion is just a human-made conceit:
(1) Dogmas are all those rules and statements that each religion lays down as must-be-true, and generally tells us is dictated from on high by that religion’s God.
(2) Rituals are ceremonies performed according to a prescribed order, and once again all those rituals are dictated or strongly suggested by that religion’s human-designed God.
(3) Traditions are customs or beliefs passed on from generation to generation, and – you guessed it – often are said to be divinely mandated.
(4) Laws are mandates, sometimes even first etched in stone, that are passed on from generation to generation, because – yup! – we are told that they came from that religion’s deity.
(5) Feasts are traditional meals prepared and consumed at certain times and in certain ways, and once again the details of these meals are often said to be divinely mandated.
Thomas and I never express opinions about modern religions beyond Christianity. But from Jesus’s perspective, it is clear that every element of Christianity is ranked by the genuine God of All below God’s Law of Love. Jesus beautifully summed up that central and only Law of the genuine God when He said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets” (MT 22:37-40). “The Law and the Prophets” was what the Hebrews of Jesus’s day called what Christians call our Bible’s entire Old Testament. So, Jesus is telling us here that God is replacing every Hebrew religious rule with the genuine God’s Law of Love.
And now, look at our frame-verse for today! The Hebrew Prophet Micah is considered to be one of the Twelve Minor Hebrew Prophets because he was a contemporary of the great Isaiah, and Isaiah always gets top billing. But Micah is my personal favorite Hebrew Prophet, because he speaks to us so frankly and so plainly. You can read his frustration with the old formal, human-designed ways of relating to God in every word! And isn’t “Do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God” nothing but “Love God and love your neighbor,” only said a bit differently? Aren’t Micah and Jesus preaching from the same book, held in the Hand of the selfsame, genuine and eternal God?
So now, my dear and beautiful friends, we come to what my so deeply beloved Thomas has been trying to drum into me as a fact for the past decade, while I have always resisted hearing it.
Just look at the religions that existed on the earth, right up until the moment when Jesus was born! Each of them worshiped multiple fear-based gods, and the most prominent of them worshiped literal monsters. Like Baal, for example. Or Moloch, who demanded that his worshipers throw their living firstborn children into the fire in his belly, a practice that disgusted the genuine God so much that God specifically banned it in the Old Testament Book of Leviticus, where God said: 21 “‘Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Moloch, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord’” (Lev 18:21).
Jesus chose, among all the peoples then living on earth, to be born from out of the Godhead into the Hebrew tribes, who were the world’s first true monotheists. As a further plus, their single God was the first deity not represented by a scary-looking chunk of matter, but instead their God was invisible. As Thomas has explained things to me, this was going to make it easier for Jesus to do what He was being born from the Godhead to do, which was to teach people that God’s kingdom had come to the earth. God was going to dwell no longer in the heavens, but in this, which would be God’s next-stage relationship with us, God would dwell within each one of us individually, so we would not need clergymen as go-betweens any longer! Now each of us could simply do what Jesus already did when we wanted to speak to God, and simply withdraw from other people and speak with God privately. He kept telling everyone to begin to do that now, and simply communicate with the Holy Spirit that lived within themselves!
Thomas insists to me now that this is what Jesus meant, as He talked endlessly about bringing the Kingdom of God on earth, because God lives within each of us. The term “Kingdom of God” appears fifty-two times in just those four canonical Gospels, Matthew through John; and when you realize that this is what Jesus meant by the term, “Kingdom of God”, that it meant spiritually elevating people as we continue to live on earth, and spiritually elevating them so much in fact that they are able to relate to God in their hearts and individually, without any need for clergy, then all His uses of the term “Kingdom of God” make sense. Of course, the rich will have more trouble getting there! Of course this will be a come-down for the pompously religious, and a big come-down indeed for the show-off clergy in their fancy clothes with all their fancy words, because now each one of us will be just like the clergy! But, tough luck for all of them. Jesus taught, 5 “When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you” (MT 6:4-6).20 Upon being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, 21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the Kingdom of God is within you” (LK 17:19-21).
But still, even though these first monotheists were worshiping a nonphysical God, they still were making Temple sin-sacrifices of young animals to that nonphysical God in their temples. And, although you and I can understand Him right away once we know what Jesus means by bringing the Kingdom of God on earth and placing it within each of us, it is clear that those first-century dunderheads just never did get any of it while He was living among them! He told them very specifically not to blend His teachings into their religion, which is exactly what was later done by the Roman Emperor Constantine, even despite Jesus’s clear direction not to do it. He said, “But no one puts a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and a worse tear results. Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the wine pours out and the wineskins are ruined; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved” (MT 9:16-17). “Therefore, every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old” (MT 13:52).
And Jesus famously had little use for clergymen! The canonical Gospels are full of passages like these: “Beware of the scribes who like to walk around in long robes, and like respectful greetings in the market places, and chief seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets, who devour widows’ houses, and for appearance’s sake offer long prayers; these will receive greater condemnation” (MK 12:38-40). And, “Woe to you, religious lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge; you yourselves did not enter, and you hindered those who were entering” the Kingdom of God (LK 11:52). He summed up His attitude toward the clergymen and their religion pretty well when He said, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy about you, ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me. And in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men’ ” (MK 7:5-7). Wow. Jesus really had their number!
Even though, in the end, my Thomas flat-out had to tell me that, “Yes, Jesus came to earth to abolish all religions, and why do you make me spell it out for you?” a strong case can be made, just from reading Jesus’s words, that He was for certain not trying to build yet one more new religion! When I was just ten years old, a child reading the Bible from cover to cover, a few pages every night, because that experience of light when I was eight was still as vivid in my mind as if it had happened only yesterday; even back then, I would wince when I came to some of those words that Jesus had said. I was such an ardent, every-Sunday-without-fail Christian when I was a child, after having just heard God speak, for heaven’s sake, and out of God’s own light, to boot! And I refused to go to Sunday School, after I had that experience of light. Nope. It was only grownup church for me! And I was reading the grownup Bible! But, then coming to some of Jesus’s words in the Bible used to flummox me. Repeatedly, I would read something that Jesus had said about clergymen, and then read it again, and think, OMG, What??
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before men, to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. So, when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
“When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners, so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you” (MT 6:1-6).
In fact, Jesus tells us in the Gospels that He and His disciples can rightfully and without any guilt break every religious law (see generally MT 12:1-12). Therefore, it seems likely that Jesus was telling us as well that also for you and me today, He was abolishing the very concept of religious laws. Please look again at the five human-made traits of religions outlined above, of which the original Way of Jesus was gloriously free for those first three hundred years of its existence! Three hundred years is a very long time, my dearly beloveds. That is even much longer than the United States of America has been alive! They were learning, and living, the kingdom of God on earth, the true God dwelling within themselves, and it was wonderfully, beautifully, WORKING! But then the Roman Emperor Constantine and his successor Roman emperors massacred in their many millions nearly all of those first free Christians, those who were following The Way of Jesus, living and working in the Kingdom of God on earth. And the Romans built their own fear-based Christian religion around the notion that Jesus had come not to free us from religious fears at all, but instead just to become the ultimate human sin-sacrifice, like all the babies sacrificed to Moloch before Him. So, when it is suggested that it might at last be time to separate the Genuine God from an oddly Moloch-like, human-made religion that was built long ago around Jesus’s name, but not around Jesus’s beautiful teachings, my immediate reaction has to be, “Heck yes!” And, my goodness, the Jesus that I am thrilled to know personally would surely tell us that it is long past time.
Why is it that no one before us ever has wondered why a God of perfect love actually wanted to watch the ghastly murder of His only begotten Son before He could forgive us for our human mistakes? That dogma has been central to Christianity for the past seventeen hundred years; but when you actually think about it, it is completely disgusting. Are you a parent? Please ask yourself which of your own children you would most enjoy seeing murdered that way. Horrifying thought, right? So, how is it possible that you are a more perfectly loving parent than is the genuine God?
Thomas took me to meet Jesus in person in the astral plane, in a series of visit that I was allowed to remember, in the spring and summer of 2022. I knew nothing about this plan beforehand, but Jesus wanted to talk to me about some things that He wanted me to do, and what He most wanted to be sure that I knew was that His crucifixion and resurrection had been all His own idea, and not part of the original plan that He had made with God for His lifetime on earth. As it turns out, Jesus chose to go through crucifixion, which was a horrible way to die, because He had never been able to convince the people he had been teaching that there is no death.
The Hebrew tribes’ custom at the time of letting people’s bodies rot away in caves, and then preserving their bones in ossuaries, had made eternal life a pretty hard sell in first-century Galilee! When they had preserved such obvious evidence of each loved person’s death, nobody would believe that they were all still alive. So, Jesus had decided to very publicly die, and then to come alive again. Ta-da! As a way of proving that nobody actually dies. He had intended simply to reanimate that body, but of course it had rotted after two days and become unusable; so, after He had used it briefly to make His point, He had used an astral body – He called it a “heavenly body”, not knowing what would be my word for it – until He ascended, a month later, according to His original plan made with God. He also told me that when He had first proposed His crucifixion idea, God had been strongly against this change of plan. Jesus had a whole squad of invisible Archangels around Him while He was living on earth, specifically to guard against the risk that someone might harm Him! For an aspect of the Godhead born on earth as a Prophet to allow Himself to be murdered? Unthinkable!
To be in the personal, close presence of Jesus in the twenty-first century was an extraordinary experience. In the astral plane that is our eternal home, you can feel everyone’s personal energies as a blend of higher and lower notes, almost like a musical signature. But Jesus is such an elevated Being that His signature is just one silken, very powerful note so high and strong that unless He remembers to tone it down by a lot, you cannot bear to be near Him. It’s amazing! And intimidating, despite how gentle and kindly He is. So, I just sort of awkwardly said to Him something like, “Um, but You did manage to persuade Him?” After all, Jesus had needed God’s close help with His crucifixion-then-He-rises! stunt. If He hadn’t died very prematurely, before sunset on that same day because the Sabbath was coming, the soldiers who were coming around to break the legs of those on the crosses who were still alive to prevent their continuing to push up and breathe, they would have broken His body’s legs as well, and He could not then have later walked out of that tomb, so His whole point of that stunt would have been lost. We were sitting side-by-side on Jesus’s riverbank, but with, of course, a bit of separation; with those astral unexpected colors for things all around, in the always-afternoon, no-shadows light; and feeding His fish. When I asked my question, He threw more food to the fish. Then He looked at me. His face was firm. His beautiful eyes were dark. Then He said, “I would have done it, anyway.”
If we are trying to better understand how consciousness works, my darlings, then Jesus is an interesting Friend to observe. He is vibrating so very high at this point that He seems literally to be able to feel no other emotion but love. But with Thomas’s constant help, He is also Fully-God-and-Fully-Man, right? So He actually seems to be beset as well with lesser emotions beneath the love, and sometimes so powerfully that He cannot contain them, either. He has to stand, and move, and do something, hug a deer, walk in circles, dance, laugh, even be ridiculous. Thomas will not allow me to tell you what He did just then, out of His powerful and pent-up love, His love so powerful that He cannot contain it. But we have a project that we plan to build for Jesus next year. And we had better get started on it soon!
He has told you, O mortal one, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you,
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?

He is often overcome with a love so powerful that He cannot manage it.
It always makes my day to see someone smile. I hope when it’s my time to return home I am able to hang out with our brother and make him laugh. It would bring me a lot of joy.
Thanks to everyone trying to help all of us to grow. I really appreciate all of you.
