His Friend (Part III)

Jesus, The Source, The Teachings of Jesus

I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses,
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
– Charles A. Miles (1868-1946), from “In the Garden” (1913)

It would not surprise me if you told me now that you think the more amazing aspects of the story of my life are plain hogwash. I have long been a natural skeptic as well, and I would likely not believe in any of my more surprising experiences if someone else were telling me these stories! Even right back to my childhood experience of light, which fortunately remains an active memory for me to this day, I would be skeptical that anything like that could happen to just anyone. And as for the even more amazing experiences that I plan to discuss today, some of which, insofar as I know, have never happened to anyone but me, you certainly are right not to simply believe me uncritically! And yet, these events have been entirely real. I was there. They happened, and I will try to further explain why I believe they happened. Then next week, we will look at the overall construction of the greater reality that we all share, and we’ll consider how such amazing things are all so easily possible!

First, though, let’s share a reminder of the fact that each one of us is in fact an eternal being. What follows was emailed by Victor and Wendy Zammit, the authors of a popular weekly afterlife newsletter, to their many followers this weekend. The Zammits there quoted Maurice Barbanell (1902-1981), who was the founding editor of Psychic News, and the medium who brought through an entity that called itself “Silver Birch” and was quoted in Power of the Spirit. Silver Birch said through Maurice Barbanell, “You survive death as a spiritual being, because survival is part of the natural law, a fact which is purely biological in its operation. It has nothing to do with your religious beliefs, or lack of beliefs, or your outlook. It is not a reward or a punishment. You have no alternative but to survive.” As Silver Birch there tells us, my dear ones, “You have no alternative but to survive.” Never forget those seven words! You are eternal, by your very nature. Those seven words are therefore the purest wisdom. We will explain here next week how and why that is true, and what you can do now to make the most of it as fact.

This week, however, we are going to delve together into what have been the most surprising aspects of my life, as I can see it now in retrospect. And perhaps the most surprising aspect of them all is this person, my Thomas, this Being who has been with me for all of my life. I have taken him far too much for granted! My Thomas tells me now that my first meeting with him, and with Jesus, happened almost simultaneously. It was at the end of the first century after Jesus’s death, resurrection, and ascension, while the Romans were still deep in trying to destroy the rapidly advancing Way of Jesus around the Mediterranean Sea. I was then a teenage boy, slowly dying in a village that had been wiped out that day by Roman Legions, while Thomas was a grizzled old man searching through that destroyed village, trying to find anyone who was still alive. Thomas has helped me to barely remember these events. He found me, and he held me as I died; and then he died as well. He held the astral remnant of slight and wary little me in his arms as we rose together to greet Jesus in His afterlife healing gardens, where He was intensely at work, surrounded by so many writhing and wailing people who did not yet realize that they were dead. Thomas introduced me to Jesus, and I shrank from Him, of course; He looked at me though, and I do remember this! He said softly, “Oh, my poor little one, you are safe now.” Then He said something sharp to Thomas in a language I didn’t know. It was probably something like, “Back to work! I can’t do this alone!”

My Thomas tells me now that he and I have shared seventeen earth-lifetimes after that one, in all of which he and I both have been male, and also in all of which I gather that we together have served Jesus in various ways. In the most notable of those lifetimes, Thomas was the American Founding Father, Thomas Jefferson, and I was his younger law clerk; and thereby hangs a tale of its own. In this current lifetime, among my gifts I was given writing skills and the desire to write, and Jesus wanted me to channel a book that He intended to write, to be entitled Liberating Jesus. But He first wanted Thomas to channel a book through me, just to prove that I could be a channel. So even though in his Jefferson lifetime, Thomas had not written any sort of autobiography, and he was so private and protective of his wife that he even had burned all her letters and papers after her death, despite all of that, for Jesus he was willing to channel through me what is the most beautiful and absolutely true historical love story that you can imagine! Thomas Jefferson’s only marriage lasted for just ten years, and it neatly spanned the American Revolutionary War, before Martha Jefferson sadly died of diabetes. Thomas then mourned her for the rest of his life, even saying when he was in his dotage that his youthful marriage had been “ten years of unchequered happiness”.

Our book, My Thomas, was first published in 1993 by Doubleday, but the publisher botched its publication so completely that for decades I never published another novel. Not until now. I have lately discovered the hybrid publishing method, which allows authors to keep control of their work. So My Thomas will be republished in time for the 250th anniversary of Thomas Jefferson’s central role in writing America’s Declaration of Independence.

In 2015, Thomas finally came out to me through a medium, and he told me who he had been, and also that Jesus now wanted me to channel a book for Him. It was only after I actually met Thomas, and knew who he had been, that I assented and channeled Liberating Jesus. And wow, was that ever a completely amazing experience! While Thomas had guided me through  researching the American colonial period, the Revolutionary War, and the first forty years of Thomas Jefferson’s life in order to write My Thomas, Jesus simply seized my fingers and guided me right through writing His book much faster than I could conceivably type on my own. We wrote that whole book in less than two head-down weeks! I only knew that it was finished when I woke up one morning, and the Presence was no longer there in my mind, that force that on each of the ten or thereabouts previous mornings had made me wake with a start and race to my computer and start right back in typing. I rushed to call the medium that Thomas had first used to tell me who he was, and then he had used her to tell me what Jesus wanted me to do for Him. I said to her just, “I think it’s over. Is it over?” She asked the question for me, since I was not yet able to communicate with Thomas on my own. Then she came back on the line and said to me, “Thomas says Jesus is saying to you, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

I was understanding, even by 2015, that my Thomas worked with Jesus pretty closely. I also had come to understand, in part through messages from Thomas, but mostly through my own life of research, that a lot of what the various versions of Christianity rather insistently teach really does not comport at all with what Jesus originally taught. And probably the worst of those bastard Christian teachings was the notion that Jesus had died for our sins! Just think about it. An infinitely loving God of all would never require a human blood-sacrifice! And Jesus Himself tells us in A Course in Miracles by Helen Schucman, Ph.D., which  He dictated in the Nineteen-Sixties and which is generally determined now to be genuine, that the teaching that He died for our sins is flat wrong. He says there, “I didn’t die for your sins. Those are on you!” Well, He could not possibly have said it any more plainly! No, that whole notion that Jesus died for our sins was nothing more than a barbaric third-century pagan idea that the Roman Emperor Constantine incorporated into his newly-invented version of Christianity as he created it at the First Council of Nicaea in 325 CE. Jesus did say that He came to save us, but He first made it emphatically clear that God never judges us (see JN 5:22). And Jesus made all of that also very clear to me when He eventually spoke to me directly as well. He is probably pretty frustrated by now that no one seems to be listening to Him! And at the same time, He made it clear in the Gospels that what He, Jesus, had come to save us from was not judgment at all, but spiritual ignorance! Otherwise, why did He even bother to teach us so earnestly about love and forgiveness for three and a half years? If the Roman Christian religion had been centered around the message of Jesus alone, and not instead built mostly around fear-based, third-century pagan Roman ideas, that religion would be very different today.

We talked in this space last week about that wonderful long evening that I spent listening to Jesus on April 6, 2022, on the Lord’s riverbank on the third level of the astral plane. It was only then that I first began to realize how close my spirit guide, Thomas, and Jesus actually are! For days after that night, I badgered Thomas with eager questions about Jesus, and I begged my dear Thomas to let me visit Jesus again. I gathered from what Thomas was saying to me that Jesus also wanted me to return, but with full awareness now, and visit Him again. Since Thomas was dragging my astral body along while my material body slept when Thomas visited Jesus nearly every night so he could converse with Him, tussle with Him, just generally help Him to maintain the “fully man” aspect of Himself, and indeed Thomas had been dragging me along with him without letting me remember these excursions nearly every night ever since I was born, all that Jesus and I were both asking was just that I be allowed now to be aware on these nightly visits that I was making to the astral plane with Thomas, so Jesus and I could talk with one another. So, okay. For Jesus, really, and not for me, Thomas soon agreed to make this change.

And, wow, what a wonderful difference it made! Clearly, the One that I was meeting with each night was the genuine, eternal Jesus. When you are even somewhat used to nighttime astral travel while your material body sleeps, as I have lately become used to it, you soon will be just automatically feeling for and recognizing people by the unique patterns of low and high notes of their personal energies. And Jesus is, wow, uniquely just one extremely high energetic note so strong that unless He tones it down by a lot, you cannot even get close to Him. His energy can feel like an unbearable battering. But when I would visit Him, He would tone down His energy for me, as He also toned it down for all the newly-transitioned people who were led to His riverside spot, or wherever else He happened to be, to visit with Him in small groups. Whenever they would visit Him, He would need to transform Himself from the way He usually looks in the astral plane, with light-brown eyes, olive skin, and dark-brown, curly hair, into what He and Thomas refer to as “church-Jesus”. Just look at any of these illustrations, and you will know what they mean by that term!

So whenever Thomas took me to meet with Jesus in the spring and summer of 2022, Jesus would repeatedly stand as we were talking, while He was transforming Himself into church-Jesus. The shift in His appearance was instantaneous. Then He would step away and greet more new arrivals, who would look to be feeling overwhelmed by the experience of actually meeting Jesus. They would genuflect, try to kneel, or maybe make the sign of the cross, while Jesus would try to keep them on their feet and murmur to each of them words of welcome and blessing. If there were babies or young children among them, He would kneel down perhaps, take them into His arms and kiss them and bless them. And He does this for people perhaps every hour or so in earth-terms, all day and all night!

But between-times, whenever I was there, Jesus would be darker-skinned and brown-eyed Mediterranean Jesus with all-over curly hair, and He would be softly talking with me as we sat on His riverbank and fed His fish from the grain that would just appear in our hands. Thomas tells me that Jesus’s usual vibration is so uniformly high now that He is vibrating even higher than the Seventh Level, the Godhead Level of our reality; and yet He chooses to remain on Level Three, which is the entry level to the afterlife. Nearly all of us can maintain ourselves at that level easily, and for people coming from the earth-level and traveling astrally, the light seems dimmer there on Level Three than it normally seems to be here in the daytime. Think of the earth-level nearing sunset, especially since the sky there is every color but blue and the vegetation is every color but green. And on that level, you are far below in vibration the primary source of astral light, which is the Godhead Level. You get used to it, though. Jesus has a slight conversational accent when He speaks, as if English is not His first language; but He speaks English easily. Communication in the astral is generally by mind, and no language is needed if you converse that way; but for newbies from the earth, doing that doesn’t feel comfortable, and Thomas tells me that even though most conversation in the astral plane is by mind, actually Jesus greets so many afterlife newcomers that by now He speaks many earth-languages pretty well. When Jesus and Thomas are together, though, they often speak some odd and unguessable language. Thomas tells me that what they speak together sometimes is their last language from when they shared a lifetime on earth, and they continue to speak it now and then, just to stay in practice. Which makes sense, because there would be no one else who still speaks it now. He says the language doesn’t have a name.

And okay, absolutely, I’ll admit that I fell completely in love during those precious early-summer weeks of 2022. How could you not fall in love? Yes, Jesus’s personal energies are very strong, even off-putting; but this Man sheds a perfect, intimate radiance of love that makes you just simply want to be with him all the time. I fell so much in love! When He first saw me each night, He would call to me, “Little one! Little one, My little one, come and tell me all about your day!” As if He had been waiting for me, as if He was overjoyed to see me. Then He was avid to hear whatever I had to say, so very soon I wasn’t shy around Him any longer; but rather, He made me feel as if I was probably the best friend He had ever had. He would smile, even laugh easily; and He had this way of fixing His full attention on me that made me feel so very much loved in return! Then soon, of course, there would be another group He had to greet, and He would say something like, “Please wait, My little one, I want to hear your story.” And soon He would be back. As He coaxed me past my shyness, and I almost could forget that He was, you know, omigod, Jesus, for heaven’s sake, and as I further loosened up, we could talk about anything, which was wonderful! He was avid to hear what people were like now on earth, what the culture was like, and we even discussed the extent to which the religion was growing past its fear-based dogmas. And wow, discussing all of that with Him made me feel so awesomely important!

 But our intensifying friendship, and perhaps especially my rapidly-growing personal feelings for Jesus, apparently began to disturb my Thomas. Before the summer of 2022 was half over, he brought my visits with the Lord to an end. When I asked him why, he told me just that while I was in a material body, I still had important lessons to learn here on earth, and those visits with Jesus were too much of a distraction for me. He said that, soon enough, I would be going home, and I could spend as much time with Jesus then as He and I liked. So then I asked Thomas yet again whether I am part of Jesus’s inner circle, the way he is, but he always refuses to answer that question. He just tells me to concentrate for now on my earth-lessons! So, let’s you and I do that now. Next week, let’s talk about the greater reality….

I’d stay in the garden with Him,
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the thought of woe
His voice to me is calling.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
