Afterlife Research, Jesus, The Source
Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon?
Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon?
We could float among the stars together, you and I.
For we can fly. We can fly!
Up, up and away!
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon!
The world’s a nicer place in my beautiful balloon.
It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon.
We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky,
For we can fly. We can fly!
Up, up and away!
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon!
Suspended under a twilight canopy,
We’ll search the clouds for a star to guide us.
And if by some chance you find yourself loving me,
We’ll find a cloud to hide us.
We’ll keep the moon beside us.
– Jimmy Webb, from “Up, Up and Away” (1967)
The simplest fact about human existence is also the most profound fact of all. For many who read what we’ll be writing here today, this might seem to be simply a bridge too far. Too simple, perhaps; or else too complex. But after having spent most of my long lifetime “seeking reality”, as my weekly podcast would have it, I am prepared now to join a very few other very curious, fearless and free non-scientist researchers in saying confidently that what you and I experience as consciousness is in truth the only thing that actually and independently exists. It is in fact the only genuine thing. In the case of every other thing of which humankind is in any way aware, consciousness is the sculptor, and it is also the clay.
That consciousness is all that exists is actually a pretty obvious scientific fact, and it is one that should have been acknowledged by the entire scientific community at least a century ago. But when it was first hinted at by Max Planck, and by other of the earliest and the greatest quantum physicists, their discovery horrified the then-far-too-complacent scientific gatekeepers, the heads of the university physics departments and the peer-reviewed scientific journals. Dr. Max Planck won the 1918 Nobel Prize in Physics as the father of quantum mechanics. In 1933 he said, “I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness. We cannot get behind consciousness. Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing, postulates consciousness.” And indeed, that should have done it! But instead, even decades before Dr. Planck made that fact explicit, the scientific gatekeepers, those university departments and peer-reviewed journals, had narrowed what would henceforth qualify as “science” to strictly the study of what is in some way “material”. And back in the early Nineteen-Seventies, when I first graduated from college and began to “Seek Reality”, you still could find some traces of that materialist scientific dogma in old early-twentieth-century scientific books and magazines.
Dr. Planck and his less-famous fellows in the field of quantum physics research continued to notice, and then to remark on the universal predominance of consciousness. Max Planck said in 1944, “As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear-headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration, and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter.” Even Albert Einstein, who was no quantum physicist himself, toward the end of his life had to acknowledge what the quantum physicists were discovering. He then said, “Concerning matter, we have been all wrong. What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter.” And Einstein even said, “Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.”
By today, this very morning, when we are already a quarter of our way through the Twenty-First century, more and more mainstream scientists are adopting Max Planck’s take on things, which is that consciousness is primary and pre-existing; although the atheist-materialist dogma that was imposed on the whole discipline of mainstream science more than a century ago still more or less remains in place. And it is estimated that more than four billion dollars is currently being spent in still trying to find a source of consciousness somewhere inside the human brain. Still, despite more than a century of such rigorous research, no such consciousness energy source in the human brain has ever yet been found. And as a practical matter, ever more kinds of scientific studies are showing now, even indirectly, that actually, there is surprisingly little connection between the human brain and an individual’s consciousness when that consciousness is in measurable operation. And the killer fact to top all killer facts, when we want to clinch your awareness that all of reality is nothing but pure consciousness, is the certainty that everything that you and I think is solid matter is in reality 99.9999999% just empty space. Yes indeed, you have read that percentage right!
What is Consciousness, anyway? I will give you the definition that my spirit guide uses. My dear Thomas tells me that “Consciousness is an infinitely powerful and infinitely creative energy-like potentiality without size or form, alive in the sense that your Mind is alive, highly emotional and therefore probably self-aware”. That is not a scientific definition, but it will do for us until mainstream scientists begin to get a clue and can pitch in and help! And what does it mean for us to realize that Consciousness is all that objectively exists? Well, for one thing, we now capitalize the word, since Consciousness is a form of energy, so it vibrates; and at its highest vibration, it encompasses even the Godhead. Insofar as we know, there is no separation at all between God‘s Mind and the Mind of the very least of us. Just as there is no separation at all between your Mind and my Mind! There is one continuous Consciousness, and only one, and that one includes every one of us! So, the one Consciousness which is all that exists encompasses not only this earth, down to the most minute creature, bit of energy, and grain of sand on it; and the universe, of which this earth is just a tiny part; but also the whole greater reality that includes the gigantic astral, and every level of all the astral planes to which we each return at our deaths. Scientists tell us that the universe is composed of 68% dark energy and 27% dark matter, with only 5% of it being ordinary matter. Well, whatever that fudge of “dark” stuff actually is in our whole, amazing greater reality, it is going to be composed of Consciousness, so it is going to be composed of God. We can at least be confident that we know that much! In every bit of this entire greater reality, IN TRUTH, THERE IS ONLY ONE OF US HERE.
Furthermore, we are amazed to realize that, while those who gathered to listen to Jesus would not have understood what Consciousness even is, the evidence shows that Jesus Himself understood not only what Consciousness is, but He further knew that Consciousness is foundational to all of the reality that we know. And He actually spoke in terms of Consciousness as foundational! Father Richard Rohr, the Franciscan priest who heads the Center for Action and Contemplation (cac.org) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, contributes meaningfully to our understanding of this idea. He tells us that when Jesus talks about this Oneness, He is not speaking in an Eastern sense about an equivalency of being, such that I am in and of myself Divine. What Jesus more has in mind is a complete, mutual indwelling, something more like “I am in God, God is in you, you are in God, and we are in each other”. Jesus’s most beautiful symbol for this is where He says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Abide in me as I in you” (see John 15:4–5). A few verses later, Jesus says, “As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Abide in my love” (John 15:9). While He does indeed claim that “the Father and I are one” (John 10:30), Jesus does not see this as an exclusive privilege, but it is something shared by all human beings. There is no separation between humans and God because of this mutual interabiding that expresses the indivisible reality of Divine love. We flow into God, and God flows into us, because it is in the very nature of love to flow. And just as we give ourselves into one another in this fashion, the vine gives life and coherence to the branch, while the branch makes visible what the vine is. The whole and the part live together in mutual, loving reciprocity, each belonging to the other and dependent on the other to show forth the fullness of love. This is Jesus’s ultimate vision of no separation at all between human and Divine, whatsoever.
No separation between human and human is an ultimately powerful notion, and it is also a kind of ultimate challenge. One of the most familiar of Jesus’s teachings is “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31; also Matthew 22:39). But we generally hear that teaching wrong! We hear “Love your neighbor as much as you love yourself.” If you listen closely to Jesus’s teaching, however, there is no “as much as” in there. It is just, “Love your neighbor the same way that you love yourself”. So, Love your neighbor as a literal continuation of your very own being. It is a complete way of seeing that your neighbor actually IS yourself.
Jesus said, “Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love” (John 15:4–5, 9).
Consciousness is IN FACT all that exists. And within Consciousness, there are no separations at all, so in joyous truth, there is only one of us here. What this wonderfully means is that you and I are inseparably One, and we and the Godhead are inextricably One as well! Please sit quietly with that thought, and simply live it for a moment. This is why I live with the top of my head always wide open to God, and I invite the Godhead to come right inside and share a cup of tea. Because in truth, there is no separation between Us at all. Your and my sole reason ever for coming to earth is to have the earth’s negativity to push against, so we can more easily raise our personal spiritual vibrations ever more completely toward perfect love, and we can commune with God at ever higher vibrations! To do this, of course, we need only to follow Jesus’s teachings more diligently, my darlings, and learn and practice ever more ardent forgiveness, and ever more perfect love.
Love is waiting there in my beautiful balloon.
Way up in the air in my beautiful balloon!
If you’ll hold my hand, we’ll chase your dream across the sky,
For we can fly. We can fly!
Up, up and away!
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon!
Balloon…
Up, up, and away
Up, up, and away
Up, up, and away…

Thank you, Roberta, for this beautiful description of our Oneness.
You have spoken the absolute truth of our actual nature.
I call it Awareness . There is mo destination to reach as we are already are that perfection now.
Thank you for this beautiful post.
Love to all
Roberta, I enjoyed today’s message. Thank you.
Me too!!!!
I always love your messages!
so we’re all Jesus ,we have never been separated, we are our own savior, we must save ourselves, by being Jesus, here on earth, each avatar is the one and only you,Jesus.
Roberta,
This is such a nicely composed explanation of how our reality actually interacts with us and how we interact with our reality. To know that there is no separation between ourselves and Consciousness is a source of peace and fulfillment that confers joy and fortitude. We should fear nothing. This existence on this Earth-plane (a subset of “all that is”) is where we are subjected to learning processes that nurture our spiritual growth. Even negative experiences play their role in our growth. We need to remember that we are here to learn. Kvetching rarely helps!
Thank you so much for digging into Jesus actual sayings more, and showing their depth and connection to our spiritual lives. This is what I’ve been hoping for 🙂 Correcting the distortion that has happened of course. This is what I’ve been trying to teach my family out of our respective religions. Love your enemy as yourself. Love your neighbor as yourself. This means that your neighbor, and enemy are one. And who is your neighbor? All people. And all people you hate? Those are your enemies, and you are one with them also. And then I show, when you hate your father, that makes me your enemy, but I do not hate you, so I am not your enemy. I’m only your enemy as long as you think I am 🙂
